Hi everybody! Our adventure this week was going to the biggest aquarium of Europe and that is Nausicaá. Thank you Evelien for your good recommendation!
Nausicaá is located at Boulogne sur Mer and not far from Calais in France. Driving from Heule Belgium it’s just about 1,5 hours or 2 hours from Paris. For us not too far with kids.

What you can expect
There are 2 major sites in the parc. First one is the big aquarium along with smaller ones, which was our favourite 😁, this one is called “journey on the high seas” and the second one is called “mankind and shores”, where you can find science, a shark tank and sea lions. They also have a big restaurant however as for my taste, not the best but this isn’t about the restaurant.
For adults €28,50 (12+years), for kids €21,50 (3-12years) and younger is for free. If you are a family of 4 then you may chose the family pass with 15%discount. Make sure you check all the info at their website. During covid times you will also need your covid safe ticket!!
For those driving by car, there is a clean and new Q-park called Nausicaá not far. From there on foot is about 5 min, with kids 15 min 😅. Don’t forget to scan your parking ticket on the way back at the exit of the Parc for having a discount.

There is also a locker room for your coats. Bring the baby strollers, there are welcome and there are elevators for them.
Journey on the high seas

This site is where you can find the aquariums. It has it all! The tunnel where you can walk through the big aquarium, the huge window where you can enjoy watching the fish like in a theatre room, the background sounds suits the atmosphere, sharks, big manta, small fish, big fish, huge fish,…
The Ooh’s and the Aah’s starts when we arrive on the first part of the big aquarium. The route actually wraps around the big aquarium. So it starts with a teaser – a smaller window.

Finally our favourite part the “theatre room” where you can enjoy watching sea life from a huge screen.
Mankind and shores
This part is more about science (diving, depths, space,..) , it’s a bit boring for my kids (3&5 year olds) but I believe for older kids it’s much more interesting. Other than that they have a shark tank and sea lions.

At the end
Overall I find the parc a very good place to go with kids. They can learn about science and you can show them a small part about sea life. The parc is well maintained, clean and new. It’s easy to find by car and has a car park next to it. Outside Nausicaá you have a play ground, good for my kids of their age for stretching their legs from sitting in that stroller and use up their last energy before heading back home. Also for those staying longer there is a beach to have long walks. But for us we went through the parc for around 5 and a half hours with lunch and we were already tired. No more walks for us and we went straight back home.
Thank you for reading and let’s have another adventure with my family soon.
